Three different options for the refurbishment of Brackley’s Old Fire Station will be drawn up by architects.
Brackley Town Council, which purchased the building in November last year, is looking for proposals which include all or part of the following: community facilities, meeting rooms, a cafe, office space and toilets which are accessible from the nearby park.
It would also like to see access from the back of the building to the park. Once three viable options have been drawn up, in around six weeks’ time, they will be put to the public for consultation. An idea to allow ‘meanwhile use’ of the station, for example pop-up shops, while the project was being finalised have been shelved by the council. Councillors felt this could delay the longer-term development. The station has been empty since the fire service moved out in 2010.
