Tower’s classical big birthday

THERE will be four days of classical concerts when a Buckinghamshire landmark celebrates its 700th birthday.

In September 1312, Sir John de Hauldo was given permission to fortify his house by Edward II and Boarstall Tower near Bicester was the result.

The tower was also an important Civil War site , changing hands three times.

To celebrate the big birthday, there will be four days of classical music concerts at the Tower over the Summer Solstice weekend. The concerts range from a Mozart opera gala concert to Gilbert and Sullivan. To find out more about the concerts log onto www.nationaltrust.org.uk/boarstall-tower
