A BLUES musician from Bicester has been nominated in the best female vocalist category of the British Blues Awards.
Clare Free, who was also nominated for the Best UK Blues song in the same awards last year said she was delighted.
She said: “It’s a huge honour for me to be nominated for this, and a surprise too.”
Clare’s second album Dust and Bones was released on March 23 and has already been played on radio shows all over the world.
Clare has also been playing in Europe this year and is set to go back to play one of the biggest blues festivals, at Gouvy, in August as well as returning to Europe for two more tours this year.
She is also well known on the local music scene and plays many solo acoustic gigs in the local area.
Clare has also played in several bands including Misdemeanour and 99lbs. She launched her debut solo album, Be Who You Are, in 2010.
The British Blues Awards were launched in 2010 by a group of blues enthusiasts from the Nottingham Blues Society.
The public were asked to nominate and vote for their favourite blues artist.
This year, a panel of blues enthusiasts including broadcasters, writers and festival organisers were asked to nominate three candidates in 16 categories with the highest scoring six in each category going through to a public vote.
Voting starts on May 31. For more information about the awards, visit britishbluesawards.com.
