ORGANISERS of the first Big Brackley Garage sale are being asked for a repeat next year after people across the town helped to raise more than £2,000 for life saving projects in Africa.

In the lead up to last Saturday’s mass garage sale 50 stall holders had signed up, but in the end over there were 90 stalls spread evenly across the town. The sale was organised by Churches Together in Brackley to raise money for Christian Aid agriculture, water and medical projects in Sierra Leone.

Organiser Judith Elkington said: “The weather wasn’t brilliant buy we took around £645 by the end of it all. But by the time we include the European Union match funding it’s over £2,200.

Alan and Tracy Smith had a stall in Glebe Drive. Mr Smith said: “I was pleasantly surprised at the level of interest, bearing in mind the atrocious weather conditions which was a real shame. It’s a great idea and I hope they do it again next year.”
