It’s that time of year again when members of the Buckingham community volunteer their time to help clean up the town’s river.

Buckingham Town Council is once again joining forces with volunteers from Stowe Sub Aqua Group firefighters from Buckingham Fire Station and members of the public to work together to clean up part of the River Great Ouse.

Objects including shopping trollies, bicycles, car tyres, traffic cones, cans and bottles are pulled from the river every year.

This year the first of the rinses will be on Sunday, September 13, starting at the university car park on Hunter Street and working up to Fishers Field. This stretch of river has not been cleaned out for a few years, so it will be interesting to see what is found.

Anyone who would like to volunteerfrom 10.30am to 12.30pm to help clean out the river, should meet at the Hunter Street car park at 10.15am.

Members of the public are not required to go in the river.

All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The second rinse will be on Sunday, October 4, starting at the bridge by the car park in Bourton Park, Bourton Road.
