Residents and businesses in south Northants are being warned about ignoring notices of unpaid council tax or business rates.
From today, Sunday, bailiffs will become known as enforcement agents (EA).
When an EA receives an instruction from South Northants Council (SNC) to collect unpaid council tax or business rates there will be an immediate compliance fee of £75 payable by the account holder.
Any payments made after the instruction has been issued will automatically go towards paying these fees.
The next enforcement stage fee will be £235 plus 7.5 per cent of the debt amount if over £1,500.
Full details of the fees will be sent with any warning letters.
