Hundreds of people across the area took part in Wear A Hat Day last Friday in aid of Padbury-based charity Brain Tumour Research.
Winslow resident Sarah Long raised nearly £1,000 from an ‘open house’ event in memory of her son, Oscar, who lost his life to a brain tumour at the age of six. The annual Wear A Hat Day event has become the UK’s premier brain tumour awareness event.
Buckingham Primary School has also supported Wear A Hat Day for several years. This year, children were encouraged to design and wear an Easter bonnet, raising £332.52 in the process.
Hats and headdresses of all sorts could be seen at Grendon Underwood Combined School.
George Grenville Academy also participated in Wear A Hat Day. Other schools taking part included Bourton Meadow Academy, Beachborough School, East Claydon Primary and Pre-School, St James & St John in Chackmore, Winslow Combined School and Treehouse Pre-School.
Staff and residents of Swan Court care home in Winslow enjoyed a coffee and cake morning, while decorating hats to wear.
