A 45-year-old man has been sentenced to a total of eight years’ imprisonment following a number of sexual offences carried out in Bicester on a child over a 12-year-period.

On January 28, Adam Reeves of Sharpes Close, Waddesdon, Aylesbury, pleaded guilty at Oxford Crown Court to three counts of indecent assault, for which he received two years’ imprisonment for each offence, to run concurrently.

He also pleaded guilty to a further count of indecent assault for which he received four years’ imprisonment, to run consecutively.

Additionally, Reeves pleaded guilty to two counts of indecency with a child for which he received two years’ imprisonment for each count, to run concurrent to each other, but consecutive to the above two and four year sentences.

Reeves also pleaded guilty to another sexual offence for which he received one year in prison, to run concurrently with the sentences above.

The offences date from 1996 to 2008 and took place at an address in Bicester. He was charged with these offences on March 27 last year after the victim reported them to the police.

Investigating officer, Det Con Natalie Thompson of Banbury Police Station said: “I would like to commend the victim for her courage and bravery in coming forward and her continued support during the lengthy investigation, which was an extremely difficult time for her.

“This conviction demonstrates that Thames Valley Police take all allegations of sexual offences extremely seriously. I hope this investigation will encourage other victims of sexual abuse to contact the Force.”
