A community cinema scheme that shows classic British films and Hollywood blockbusters will be visiting venues in Northants.

The Big Country Rural Cinema Network is a publicly funded mobile cinema scheme made up of Centre Screen Leicestershire and Rutland and Centre Screen Northants.

Centre Screen visits venues that are hard to reach so rural communities can have more access to films.

The Big Country Rural Cinema allows promoters to show quality feature films from classics to the latest releases in local venues such as village halls.

The community cinema is helped by funding from Northants County Council and the British Film Institute.

Co-ordinator for Northants, Anna Hayward, said: “We have applied for more funding for 2014. So with any luck you will be seeing lots more of us soon

“In five years we have gone from small to working at full capacity and have enjoyed every moment.”

Showings in January are: Argo (15), January 10, 8pm, Paulerpsury Village Hall; Hitchcock (12A), January 13, 8pm, Evenley Village Hall; Albert Nobbs (15), January 14, 7.30pm, Whittlebury Reading Room; The Great Gatsby (12A), January 15, 7.30pm, Blakesley Village Hall.
