To celebrate the opening of its upcoming 1940s-era play To Sir, With Love, the Royal and Derngate will be holding a Vintage Open Day on September 7.
The day will celebrate a range of ‘40s music, dance, fashion and food with various workshops and stalls throughout the event.
The open day will run from 4pm to 7pm. There will be a range of vintage stalls as well as a vintage fashion boutique which will offer hair and makeup makeovers in ‘40s and ‘50s styles.
Other activities will include a 1940s classroom exhibition, a 1950s shoe collection and a selection of ‘40s games.
The theatre’s cafe will serve tea and cake, or, for a truly vintage option, a full afternoon tea complete with a glass of Prosecco. Free Lindy Hop dance workshops will also be available from 4pm to 5pm and 5.30pm to 6.30pm, although places for these are limited so booking in advance is recommended.
From 7pm to 7.40pm the Royal and Derngate’s community choir will sing songs from the ‘40s and ‘50s up until the first performance of To Sir, With Love.
Tickets for the show, which runs from September 6 to 28 can be booked at royalandderngate.co.uk.
