Young people from Bicester can make serious savings and help support their town centre with a new discount card scheme.

The BLink Card has been created by Bicester Youth Council for young people aged 11 to 25, who can enjoy 10 per cent discounts on a range of shops, eateries, health and fitness and entertainment for just £5 a year.

Jason Slaymaker, development officer for Bicester Youth Council, said: “They can take advantage of discounts and special offers from local businesses.

“It’s supported by Bicester Youth Council, Bicester Town Council, Cherwell District Council and Orme Creative.

“It’s all about keeping things local, having that connection between young people and their town.

“They are the future of Bicester and this will help keep them shopping at local retailers.”

The Fitness Company, Denis Restaurant, Options, Brunch, Wadleys, Baguette Box, Cole’s Books and the Dragon King takeaway are among the local firms to join.

Bicester branches of some national chains are also included, such as Subway.

Mr Slaymaker added: “The response from retailers has been very positive.

“I thought it would be quite difficult initially to get the first 10 people signed up.

“But that was relatively easy, and since then people have been coming to us.”

The BLink Card website went live last Friday.

Young people need to provide a photograph of themselves to be printed on the card, which is uploaded during sign-up, as well as a valid email address.

A debit or credit card is also needed.
