Police in Bicester have launched a fresh appeal for motorists to remove valuables from their vehicles after 17 reported thefts over the last fortnight.
Vans and cars have been targeted mainly in the Kings End, Greenwood, Glory Farm and Bure Park estates.
Items stolen include in-car stereo systems, sat navs, power tools, cash, a laptop, a camera and iPhone chargers.
Most thefts have been late at night or in the early hours of the morning, with thieves picking door locks or smashing small side windows to get in.
In one instance, a Volkswagen badge was stolen from the bodywork of a car.
Sgt Stephen Willis, from the Bicester Town Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “In response to these incidents, officers and PCSOs from Bicester Police Station have increased high-visibility patrols in estates around the town, particularly after dark.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any of these thefts or have any other relevant information.
“If you are approached by someone attempting to sell you any of these items, please report this via 101 as the likelihood is that they are stolen goods.”
Members of the public are being asked to report anyone acting suspiciously around a parked car, especially if they are paying close attention to interior.
Streets hit by vehicle break-ins over the past fortnight include Ashdene Road, Forsythia Close, Lucerne Avenue, Reedmace Road and Bristol Road.
Thefts have also been reported in Meredith Close and Walpole Close in King’s Meadow.
Police would like descriptions of any people seen and their direction of travel.
Anyone with information should contact the Bicester Town Neighbourhood Policing Team via the Police Enquiry Centre on 101.
In response to the recent thefts, the Bicester Town Neighbourhood Team will be holding community crime prevention events in the Launton Retail Park in Launton Road, Bicester, on Saturday, June 22; Sunday, June 23; Saturday, July 6; and Sunday, July 7.
The events, which all start at around 11am, will offer crime prevention advice, tamper-proof number plate screws, stickers for cars and bike marking.
Residents are reminded to always make sure vehicles are completely secured – including the sun roof.
Police have also stressed the importance of removing valuable personal items from cars, including letters, clothing and sports equipment.
Glove boxes should be left open to show they do not contain valuables.
