Akeley Wood School has unveiled its plans for a new sixth form Centre of Excellence.

The centre is due to open in September and will be in the converted Stable Hall.

It is expected to include a modern careers centre, seminar rooms for project work and tutorial sessions, WiFi equipped study rooms, recreation areas and a kitchen.

Headteacher, Dr Jeremy Grundy, said: “The new Sixth Form Centre is a dream come true, the culmination of Akeley’s ambitious post-millennium development.”

The opening of the new centre will coincide with the launch of the school’s new virtual learning environment.

Head of sixth form, Paul Dyson said: “It is a tremendous privilege to be given the responsibility of leading the Sixth Form at Akeley Wood into the next phase of its development and I am absolutely relishing the prospect.”
