Glasses are being raised at the Red Lion in Evenley after it was named Best Community Food Pub in the south of England.
The accolade came as part of the Marston’s Pub of the Year Awards 2013.
Tenant Paul Crompton said he was thrilled with the award, adding: “We’ve always invested time developing our menu, listening to our customers and serving great food.”
He said the judges appreciated the pub’s approach and said he was looking forward to the next stage of the competition.
The pub says it bases its menu on customer feedback.
Ingredients come from local suppliers wherever possible and the pub says it likes to offer a broad range of food in its specials menu.
Rohan Miller, of Marston’s Inns and Taverns, said: “With 300 other competing pubs in the region, the Red Lion has done very well to finish top.
“It’s a fantastic achievement for Angela, Paul and the team.
“They have worked hard for three years to turn this pub into the busy centre of village life for the community.”
National winners will be announced on June 13.
