NEW HOSPITAL: Proposals by a Berkshire MP to create a new hospital for the Thames Valley region have been backed by the Home Secretary Theresa May.
The proposed Royal Thames Valley Hospital near Junction 9 of the M4 would cater for 650,000 patients.
Plans have been put forward by Bracknell MP Dr Phillip Lee, a practising GP.
In his Future Healthcare Plan report, Dr Lee said: “My vision is for a major acute emergency hospital providing the very best care to a large region.
“This would act as a hub from which ‘arterial routes’ to community hospitals would emanate.”
The 1,016-bed facility would cost £750 million.
